Polio Immunization: 82,000 children to benefit in Katsina State

A total of 82,000 children are targeted for immunization against polio in a four day program by the Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State.This was made public by the Information Officer of the council, Alhaji Salish Haro on Monday in Daura. The program started on Saturday March 25 and would end on Tuesday March 28.According to Alhaji Haro, 270 personnel are involved and he enjoined the community and religious leaders to take advantage of the opportunity to get their children immunized.Director of Primary Health Care in the local government, Alhaji Ahmed Murtala, who added his voice in support of the immunization program said the council is equipped with enough vaccines in addition to preservative equipment for ensuring the efficacy of the drugs.“We have mapped out strategies to ensure that all areas are covered; nothing will be taken for granted,” he said.Murtala conveyed his happiness over an apparent full acceptance of the vaccination, saying that the local government would soon commence regular immunization against measles, meningitis and other deadly diseases.
