Spokesperson to the Nigerian President Femi Adesina said this while reacting to news making the rounds that the government was systematically stifling the press. The allegations come in the wake of the arrest of some journalists few weeks back.Mr. Adesina says Nigeria remains the hallmark of Press freedom in the African continent as such attempts at demonizing the government over accusations of intimidating the press are out of context.“To say the Press is intimidated in Nigeria is not true, in fact, the Nigerian Press is perhaps the freest in Africa. I am an active participant; there is no intimidation of the press”.He however advised journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession while reiterating the fact that journalists in countries the world over are not above the law.
