PTI Pledges to Provide Quality Education

By Correspondent

The Principal/Chief Executive for Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Mr. Avuakporeta Orukele, has pledged that the institute would continue to provide high quality technical education in petroleum related disciplines. Orukele mentioned this at the combined matriculation ceremony of new full-time and part-time students of Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), for the 2015/2016 academic session, adding that the institute will not shirk its mandate of developing competent technical manpower needed for the advancement of the oil and gas sectors. The PTI Executive encouraged the new students to be focused and innovative in their studies so as to benefit immensely from the opportunities inherent in the institute. With PTI’s team of professionals and state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none in Sub-Sahara Africa, every student is bound to excel in such an environment conducive to learning. Orukele reiterated; “PTI is a household name in the oil industry, as there is no oil company without a PTI graduate in its employ. The institute provides courses of instruction, training and research in oil technology and production of technologists and technicians, and such other skilled personnel normally required for oil production and allied disciplines,” the school administrator stated. “1,507 of you are the favoured ones admitted out of the 6,413 that applied for admission to pursue higher and national diploma and certificate programmes, I also wish to advise you to be innovative, focused and work very hard to justify the confidence reposed in you. You are, therefore, expected to maintain and even surpass the high academic standard set by your predecessors.” However, Orukele admonishes the students: “Let me warn against unlawful protest on campus. It is an act of indiscipline. No student should take the laws into his or her hands. Any student caught or involved in unlawful protest on campus is deemed to have breached the matriculation oath, and severe penalties would be meted out to such student(s). “As students, if you have any cause for complaint, I advise that you route such complaint through the approved channels of communication,” he added.
