Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has re-initiated a fundamental rights action at the Abuja division of the Federal High Court, after Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos threw out the suit.Saraki, through his team of lawyers, had filed the suit last Friday against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), ICPC, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).Specifically in the fundamental human rights suit, the Senate President is asking the court to issue a declaration that his arraignment and subsequent trial before the Code on Conduct Tribunal (CCT) is not in compliance with the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights and Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution which guarantees his right to fair hearing and personal liberty.Saraki further wants the court to declare as a nullity the charges of false assets declaration pending against him.He also wants the court to restrain the respondents from inviting, arresting or prosecuting him on the basis of any allegation arising from his tenure as Governor of Kwara State from 2003 ”“ 2011.
