Supreme Court Orders Former Abia Governor to Face Money Laundering Charges

The Supreme Court of Nigeria, on Friday, directed the former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu to face the money laundering charges made against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The apex court arrived at the decision after dismantling the appeal instituted by the former governor seeking to quash charges of corruption against him. The Supreme Court, in a unanimous judgment, held that the appeal is lacking in merit, and ordered the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to assign the case to a new judge.
