Teenager Dragged to Court over Alleged Murder

A teenager, Andrew Ovie, has been accused of murdering a middle aged man, identified simply as Ibrahim. Ovie allegedly hit Ibrahim on the head with a bottle during a heated argument. The defendant who is currently before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, was said to have committed the alleged offence when a crowd of people gathered at a brothel in Ogolonto. The victim was said to have gone to the hotel with two underage girls, allegedly to have sexual intercourse with the girls when some people in the vicinity raised the alarm and a crowd gathered. During the ensuing commotion, Ovie allegedly hit Ibrahim on the head with a bottle and the latter slumped and died. The accused was apprehended and remanded in a correctional home from where he was brought before the judge who ordered that he should be tried before a Family Court on the reason of age.
