The Nigerian Army in an offensive operation has destroyed Boko Haram terrorists camps and enclaves around Alagarno and Sambisa forests. The Acting-Director of the Nigerian Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, in a statement revealed on Tuesday that troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion patrol team, destroyed Boko Haram camps located at Komala, Dole, Kumshi and Moadori around the fringes of Alagarno forest. Two Boko Haram terrorists were killed, while the troops captured 2 notorious terrorists; Mustapha Busuru (50 years old) and Usman Abubakar (56 years) at Dole village. They also destroyed all Boko Haram terrorist flags hoisted in the village and its surroundings. The troops also recovered 40 motorcycles, 2 Toyota pickup vans, a stockpile of foodstuffs, fuel dump and Improvised Explosives Making Devices (IEDs). This move was also in response to a distress call by Kuda village people of impending attack by Boko Haram terrorists. The troops of 143 Battalion moved into action, but arrived late as the terrorists had already fled after setting the village on fire. The fire led to the death of an elderly woman. The insurgents who thought they had escaped, regrouped and attempted to cross through Magar bridge, but met their loom when confronted by members of the Battalion who killed 2 terrorists and wounded several others. During the gun battle, 3 soldiers and 4 locals sustained injuries. However, the troops recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration number 132042, 1 Toyota Buffalo vehicle mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun with registration number 081375, a loaded G3 rifle magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions link. Both the military and the wounded civilians are receiving treatment at the unit’s Regimental Aid Post.
