UCL: Bayern Fight Back to Overcome Juventus in Thrilling Encounter

By Correspondent

German champions Bayern Munich proved their mettle last night as they came back from the brink of exiting the Champions League to overcome Juventus 4-2 in extra-time, earning a 6-4 aggregate win to secure a place in the last eight. The Italian side drew first blood six minutes into the game when Paul Pogba took advantage of some shambolic defending from the Germans and Juan Cuadrado doubled the lead with less than half an hour gone. But just as the tie looked to be slipping away Bayern came back to live with a cute finish from striker Robert Lewandowski. Thomas Muller levelled the game three minutes from the end. The game went into extra time and two goals from substitutes Thiago and Kingsley Coman completed a stirring comeback as the hosts claimed an unlikely win. In Friday’s quarter-final draw Bayern could face Manchester City, the team Guardiola will take charge of in the summer.
