US Elections: Kamala Harris Picks Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz As Running Mate

The Democratic nominee for the upcoming US Presidential elections, Kamala Harris has picked Minnesota governor, Tim Walz as her running mate.The decision to opt for the former high school teacher and Midwestern Democrat was announced on Tuesday, 6th of August, 2024.“One of the things that stood out to me about Tim is how his convictions on fighting for middle class families run deep. It’s personal,” Harris said in a statement. “As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his own. We are going to build a great partnership. We start out as underdogs but I believe together, we can win this election.”

According to BBC, Walz gained national attention for his strategy of calling Trump and JD Vance “weird”, a phrase Harris has adopted when talking about her rival.

Reacting to the news in a tweet on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Walz said, “It is the honor of a lifetime to join @kamalaharris in this campaign. I’m all in. Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school. So, let’s get this done, folks! Join us.”
