Venezuelans to Work for Only Two Days in a Week

By Correspondent

The Venezuelan government has imposed a two-day working week for public sector workers. This was necessary to help the country overcome its energy crises. This was announced by the vice president, Aristobulo Isturiz. He noted that civil servants would work only on Mondays and Tuesdays until the crises are over. Presently in Venezuela, there is a major drought which has dramatically reduced the water levels at its main hydroelectric dam. As a result of this, the opposition has accused the government of mismanaging the situation. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro has called on international bodies to help the country. In his words, “We are requesting international help, technical and financial aid to help revert the situation. We are managing the situation in the best possible way while we wait for the rains to return. “Several countries in the region have been affected by the drought, caused by El Nino. But Venezuela has the highest domestic consumption of energy.”
