Wenger faces more irate fans behaviour as team records losses

By

Seemingly frustrated Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prone to more irate fans’ behavior and criticisms from sports analysts in view of latest dismal performance against Crystal Palace Monday, 10th April 2017.The recent outcome has lowered the public image of the players, who are described as “cowards” after Monday’s 3-0 loss at Selhurst Park. With the loss, Arsenal is now adrift the Champions League place in sixth position.Though Wenger is not talking about his prospect at the club but the current situation is becoming unfavorable.Visibly dissatisfied fans rent the air with abuses targeted at their own players during the defeat at Palace; Wenger too was not spared as they shouted: “We want Wenger out!”An incident during the second half featured a group of Arsenal fans refusing to return the ball to Hector Bellerin at a throw-in before they called out: “You’re not fit to wear the shirt!”At full time, the fans displayed the now usual “WENGER OUT” posters and banners.Wenger and his team were jeered as they embarked on the team bus at the close of match proceedings and supporters swamped on social media to display their rather incoherent thoughts. However, Arsenal captain, Theo Walcott, apologized on behalf of the team for “letting the fans down”.With the latest development as suggested by British media reports, is that there is chance for Wenger’s tenure extension by the board. The 67-year-old Frenchman fluttered again when asked questions about his future after the match, replying he was “not in the mood” to discuss it.In spite of Wenger’s claim his uncertainty about his stand on the team’s performance has no effect on it, it is becoming increasingly worrying to everyone.Arsenal’s present performance has yielded five loses of their last eight Premier League games, which included four successive away games, unprecedented in Wenger’s tenure. This could jeopardize the team’s chances of securing a place in the Champions League for the first time since 1997.This season’s exit from the Champions League for Arsenal came after a humiliating 10-2 goal aggregate loss to Bayern Munich in the last 16.
