Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday lifted the suspension imposed on the state’s commissioner of finance, and Accountant-General of the state, who were suspended last week. According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, the Commissioner, Dr Fred Kpakol, and the Accountant-General, Sir Abere Dagogo’s suspension was removed sequel to interventions by different political leaders. “Governance is a serious business. It is not friendship. When it comes to governance I won’t know friendship. I will lift the suspension on the Finance Commissioner and the Accountant-General, but they must henceforth take their functions seriously,” Wike said. “Next time, I will not take into consideration the pleas of political stakeholders.”
