Over the weekend, the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) revealed 17 persons who were caught with fake certificates of exemption and exclusion.It was gathered that three of the suspects who work with some financial institutions are on the run. Meanwhile, the remaining four have been arrested for prosecution.The names of the suspects include: Olatunbosun Abolarin, Yusuf Adekunle, Akan Macaulay and Abdullahi (other name withheld).During interrogation the suspects confessed to have paid as much as N25,000; N40,000; N60,000 and N20,000 to acquire fake certificates.Commenting on the latest development, Alhaji Hudu Aliyu Taura, the NYSC Director of Certification said the operation would not have been successful, but for the help of their employees who requested for verification of their certificates.Taura has urged employers of labour to do background check with NYSC to ascertain the genuineness of certificates submitted by applicants.
