President Buhari likely to drop 10 Ministers of Cabinet in 2017

It has been strongly indicated that the President might likely drop 10 cabinet ministers while some might switch portfolios in 2017.

The decision to reshuffle the cabinet stems from the presidency tapping leaders of the Senate to secure prompt and less rancorous screening processes.Two vacancies already exist in the cabinet following the death of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. James Ocholi in March and the departure of the Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, last week to assume the post of Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.Also, sources reveal that the administration has been overwhelmed with reports of placing ministers in the wrong fields and the incompetencies of some in areas of operation.It was also revealed that a conclusion is to be drawn on who should remain or go with the ministers that would leave cutting across the geopolitical zones, an indication that new names may soon find their way into the senate from different geopolitical zones.Also, in recent weeks, the decisions taken by the Senate has taken the presidency by surprise. The Senate dismissed the confirmation of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu and also rejected the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) calling it ”˜empty and unrealistic’.
