Universal Music Nigeria recently announced its partnership with Runway Jazz, an annual jazz festival that fuses fashion and music.
For the first time in Lagos, music lovers are set to see popular Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, performing jazz music.
The founder of Runaway jazz, Afolabi kehinde Oke made this known during an interview with the Punch.
This year event is scheduled to hold on the 29th off April at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to Afolabi, he said Tiwa Savage was listed as part of the performers to give different dimension to the music festival.
“Tiwa Savage went to Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in professional music. So, she got the fundamentals and she can do anything as long as it is music – from jazz to hip-hop. On that day, you will see a different Tiwa.”
Present at the signing was Sipho Dlamini, the Managing Director of Universal Music South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa (English-speaking) who shared the company’s commitment in promoting the music culture in Nigeria.
Speaking on collaborating with Runway Jazz, He stated, “Universal Music is the number one entertainment company in the world because of the various activities that we are involved in. In Nigeria, as we do in other African countries, we operate a record label where we sign and develop local talents. We also do live events; we partner with entities such as Runway Jazz. For us, it is a huge honour to be working with Runway Jazz Festival on this two-day event – the music conference and the jazz festival itself.”
