Olubadan: Judge to Entertain Motion against Appointment Feb. 16

By Correspondent

The High Court of Oyo State, presided over by Justice Muktar Abimbola, has set aside February 16, 2016, to hear a motion seeking to stop the Olubadan-in-Council from appointing the new Olubadan of Ibadan land. The judge arrived at the date during the resumed hearing of the suit, initiated by Chief Adebayo Oyediji and others, against the state government, the Council and other contending lines to the Olubadan throne. Specifically, Oyediji who is of the Seriki Chieftaincy line, argued in the suit that it is the turn of their line to produce the next Olubadan, sequel to the death of Oba Samuel Odunlana. He is also questioning what he termed consistent occupation of the throne by the Olubadan Chieftaincy line and the Balogun Chieftaincy line.
