Nigeria Will Become Ungovernable- MASSOB

If the Federal Government fails to conduct a referendum in the South-East, Nigeria will become ungovernable. This was the submission of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) on Thursday. MASSOB, alongside other pro-Biafra groups, which also included the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), called for a referendum in the region so as to enable the people decide, through voting, whether they wish to secede, or remain in Nigeria. The groups contended that the majority of people in the region would vote in favour of a separation from Nigeria. According to a statement by MASSOB through its National Director of Information, Samuel Edeson, the group argued that plans had been perfected with other pro-Biafra groups, to disrupt governance in the country, if the Federal Government would not conduct the referendum. The statement adds that the Biafra agitators would fight the Federal Government with ”˜everything’ at their disposal. Edeson revealed that the group has the intention of instigating civil disobedience, and strikes, particularly in the South-East, and Lagos. He said, “MASSOB and other pro-Biafra agitators will make Nigeria ungovernable if the Nigerian government failed to conduct a referendum in Eastern Nigeria. “We shall use everything at our disposal to fight the Nigerian government, especially through civil disobedience.“We are going to call for ”˜sit at home’ in all Biafran land and Lagos.”
