2.1bn Arms Probe: Court Directs FG to Grant Dasuki Access to His Lawyers

Justice Peter Affen of a High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has directed the Federal Government (FG) to allow the detained former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki, rtd, access to his team of lawyers. He insisted that it is important for Dasuki who is facing a 22-count criminal charge to have private meetings with his lawyers to enable him to effectively prepare his defence. It would be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is prosecuting Dasuki alongside the former Minister of Finance, Bashir Yuguda, former Director of Finance in the Office of the NSA, Mr Shuaibu Salisu, former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa and his son, Sagir Attahiru. The anti-graft agency had alleged that Dasuki alongside others connived and diverted over N19billion from the office of the NSA, prior to the 2015 general elections.
