Again, Ouattara Wins Ivory Coast Election

Alassane Ouattara, Ivory Coast’s President, has won a second five-year term with nearly 84% of the votes, electoral commission officials say.Although, his previous victory was rejected by the incumbent, Laurent Gbagbo. The rejection sparked a civil war, which killed 3,000 people.Mr Pascal Affi N’Guessan who was Mr Ouattara’s closest challenger got 9%. He is an ally of Mr Gbagbo, who faces trial at the International Criminal Court.Several candidates withdrew from the poll, saying it was not free and fair. However, on Monday election observers from the United States said the election was credible.
