Arik resolves labour unrest, begins operation

The logjam existing between the management of Arik Air and labour unions under the auspices of National Union of Air Transport Employees (NAUTE), Lagos branch, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Association of Aircraft Pilot and Engineers (NAAPE) has been resolved.According to report, peace prevailed over the deadlock situation in a meeting involving the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Arik and the unions on Thursday. This has necessitated Arik Air’s announcement of normalization of operations from Friday morning on all routes covered by the airline. The management also appealed to its flight customer for the cancellation of services Friday due to restraining of its services by the unions.“We sincerely apologise to our customers for the disruption of our operations today caused by the picketing of our services,” Chief Executive Officer of Arik Air, Capt. Roy Ilegbodu said.“We have resolved the issue with the unions and wish to inform the traveling public that our services will resume tomorrow morning.“We reassure our customers of on time departure and great travel experience and look forward to welcoming them on board our flights.”At the time being, the airline has also reopened its internet access for customers to register and make payment on all available networks.
