One of India’s movie icons Priyanka Chopra replied critics on Wednesday for humiliating her over her dressing while meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Her critics said she disrespected the prime minister in her knee-length dress showing her lower limbs during the meeting with Modi in Berlin.
Chopra got series of verbal attacks on social media from a number of critics who said her clothing was unfit for the event, while offering that the 34-year-old movie star should have worn an Indian dress instead.
Yet, the movie star who featured in popular American spy adventure movie “Quantico” was not ashamed of her action, while posting picture depicting her mother and herself in short dresses bearing description: “legs for days”¦. #itsthegenes”.
A former Miss World, Chopra, said of herself as a “strong-willed feminist” who is championing an equal payment for all gender in Bollywood and a reversal of unpleasant attitude towards woman in her country.
“For so many years women were told to act a certain way, to dress a certain way, to think a certain way, even not to think at all,” Chopra said in an interview with AFP last year.
“People misconstrue the word feminism. It is not hating men, or making men small. It is just saying, ”˜We want our independence to make our own choices the way men have done for so long.”
Since Chopra’s featuring in “Quintico”, she has gained better opportunities in playing roles in Hollywood. She has also received play offers as a villain in the recent film “Baywatch”.
