(Breaking): Alleged N9.6billion Fraud: Dasuki, Others Granted Bail

The immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda; former director of finance at the office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu; former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa; his son, Sagir, and two firms Dalhatu Investment Limited and Jabbam Ada Global Services, were on Monday granted bail by a Federal Capital Territory High Court.They were granted bail in a criminal charge made against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegation of criminal breach of trust and obtaining stolen property.The FCT High Court in its ruling gave the defendants bail in the sum of N250 million each with a surety in like sum. The court further declared that the surety must be a civil servant, serving or retired and not less than the rank of a director.It also ordered that Dasuki and others should surrender their passports with the court registrar and that any plan to travel out of Abuja should be brought to the knowledge of the court.Dasuki alongside others were docked on a 22-counter charge that touches on money laundering and criminal breach of trust.The anti-graft agency had accused Dasuki, Yuguda and Salisu of stealing N5.05 billion between April 14, 2014 and May 7, 2015.EFCC had also accused Yuguda, Bafarawa, his son, Sagir, and their company, Dalhatu Investment Limited of receiving stolen property amounting to N4.633 billion from the office of the NSA.The defendants are to remain in Kuje Prison pending when they are able to perfect their bail conditions.
