(Breaking) Court Grants Dasuki, Others Bail

Justice Husseini Baba of the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Friday issued bail to the immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, and four other persons standing trial before the Court over allegations of money laundering and criminal breach of trust. Those standing trial with Dasuki on a 19-count charge are; Shuaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance at the office of the NSA, Aminu Baba ”‹Kusa, a former Group General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and two firms, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Reference Hospital. All the defendants were specifically granted bail in the sum of N250 million with a surety each who must be a ”‹serving or retired ”‹civil servant ”‹not lower than the rank of a director. The judge further directed that the c”‹ivil servants must own a property within the FCT worth the same amount. The court equally ordered that all the defendants should deposit their ”‹international passports with the ”‹Court’s Registrar”‹. Justice Baba ordered that they should send a notice to the court in the event of any intention to travel outside the FCT. It would be recalled that Dasuki was accused of misappropriation of the sum to the tune of $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of weapons for the fight against extremist group, Boko Haram.
