Despite the proliferation of Universities and mass employment beguiling Nigerian Youths, the Federal government has approved 8 private universities to accommodate the teeming population of youths left to be admitted.This approval was made at the Presidential villa, Abuja during the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, after “a memo was submitted seeking approval for eight private universities after recommendation by the NUC.”The 8 approved universities are as follows: Arthur Jarvis Akpabuyo University, Cross River; Crown Hill University, Kwara State, Coal City University, Enugu State; Dominican University, Ibadan, Oyo state; Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, Clifford University, Owerinta, Abia State; Legacy University, Okija, Anambra State, and Kola Daisy University, Ibadan, Oyo state.Minister of State for Education, Mr Anthony Onwuka, addressing the House of representatives today, said the institutions would be run in interim for 3 years, in which time they would remain under the guide of Federal universities in their respective states.
