Code of Conduct Violation: FG Fires Justice Akanbi

An immediate and compulsory retirement of a judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Lambo Akanbi, has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.Justice Akanbi until his compulsory retirement, sat at the Port Harcourt division of the Court.The president took this decision based on the fact that the National Judicial Council (NJC) found him to have violated the code of conduct for judicial officers.The ”ŽActing Director of Information at the National Judicial Council, Mr Soji Oye issued a statement yesterday in Abuja saying that the president’s approval was based on a recommendation made to him by the council.There were also allegations of Justice Akanbi acquiring N100m from Governor Nyesom Wike upon which he sacked about 22 local government chairmen and councillors for supposedly being elected on an unlawful premise.
