Court to Rule on Bail Application for Former President Jonathan’s Aide Today

By Francis IwuchukwuA Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, and presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris will today,June 20, 2016, take a decision as to whether or not to grant bail to Warpamo Dudafa, the former Special Assistant on domestic affairs to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan. It would be recalled that Dudafa and one Taiwo Ebenezer also known as Olugbenga Isaiah were dragged before the court on 23 counts that touch on fraud to the tune N5.1 billion. In the charge before Justice Idris, the EFCC had alleged that the defendants had between June 11, 2013, and June 2015, used different companies to commit the offenses. Some of the companies allegedly used in committing the said offenses include Seagate Property Development & Investment Ltd, Avalon Global Property Development Company Ltd, Iwejuo Joseph Nna and Pluto LUTO Property. Others are Investment Company Ltd, Iwejuo Joseph Nna and Rotate Interlink Services Ltd. The troubled aide and Ebenezer were said to have concealed proceeds of a crime in the sum of over N5 billion, contrary to the provisions of the money laundering prohibition act, 2012. The alleged offenses are said to be contrary to and punishable under sections 17(a), 18(c), and 27 (3) (c) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004.
