In an attempt to strengthen existing diplomatic relationship between Nigerian and Ecuador, the Ambassador of Ecuador to Nigeria, HE Leopoldo Rovayo Wednesday, paid an august visit to Kano State. Accompanied by his entourage, the diplomat was received by the Kano State Gov. Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressing his gratitude to the Ecuadorian ambassador for his initiative in forging relationship and creating awareness about his country in Kano State, in spite of the security challenges in the northern part of Nigeria.Governor Ganduje said the state, through its chamber of commerce and industry, will partner with Ecuador to boost Agriculture in the region. The governor also offered gift to the Ambassador.Ambassador Rovayo said, in a conversation with Gov Ganduje, that it was necessary for him to bring Ecuador to every Nigerian doorstep while commending the Governor for his recent project in building the industrial park to develop Kano state tradition for being a place for commerce and industry.The ambassador, and his entourage, also extended their visit to the palace of Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano State, where the ambassador emphasized the significance of both countries friendship. He said he admires the expertise of the emir and encouraged him to always use his rich knowledge to assist government when necessary.Noting Kano State as the business hub in the Northern region, the Emir encouraged the Ecuadorian Ambassador to bring in investment to the people of the region and he also urged him to travel to other parts of Nigeria to see possible areas where Ecuador/Nigeria can increase Economic relations.The Envoy thereafter proceeded to the President of Kano State Chamber of Commerce to lecture on Ecuador/Nigeria business relationship, investment in Ecuador, opportunities and policies put in place by the Ecuadorian government for smooth running of business for investorsIn response, the Kano State Chamber of Commerce said it was interested in export/import from both countries in products like shrimps, flowers as well as other products that can interest Nigerians.There was an exchange of gifts between the envoy and his hosts before the envoy left for Freedom Radio where he offered an interview on the commercial ties between his country and Nigeria.
