Governor Kashim Shettima has justified his allocation of the lion share of the states’ 2017 budget to the educational sector, saying that it was needed to reconstruct and rehabilitate schools destroyed by terrorists.Out of the N183.3 billion 2017 budget, the educational sector received N33 billion allocation. Shettima explained that the sector had been dealt a huge blow by terrorist, thus it was needed to revamp the sector.”˜Education is the sector which captures our attention the most. It is the area that has suffered the worst onslaught of the insurgents. Our experiences have shown that its inadequacy could be risky and its neglect could also be a recipe for insecurity even in the future.’”˜It is for this reason that the education sector alone, excluding the primary level is allocated N33 billion for secondary and tertiary schools’, he said.He also lamented that most of the primary schools in local governments occupied by the Boko Haram terrorist group have been destroyed. He also reiterated the determination of his administration to take opportunity of the emerging peace to turn things around for good.
