Fundamental Rights: El-Zakzaky Goes to Court

 The detained leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ite sect, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has dragged the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and others to the Federal High Court, demanding for N3bn as general damages. Other defendants in the suit are the Director- General (DG) State Security Services (SSS), the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF). According to the suit designated FHC/ABJ/CS/247/16, Zakzaky through his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) is praying the court to enforce his fundamental rights to life, personal liberty, freedom of movement, dignity of the human person and right to private and family life.
