Miyyeti Allah, The Association of Cattle BreedÂers has reacted and disagreed with the directive of the FCT Minister stating that the administration canÂnot banish them without proÂviding an alternative for them.
It would be recalled that the FCT Minister recently ordered all cattle to moved out of the city centre as loÂcations in Paiko Kore and other locations in the satellite towns have been earmarked for them and that animals are not allowed to cohabit the city with residents. The chairman of the FCT chapter of Cattle Breeders AsÂsociation, Hon. Yahaya Isa, in a chat with journalists, stated that its membership had met with the Minister with an agreement including asking cattle owners to stir clear of the metropolitan city, pending when the government should provide enabling ground for the herdsmen.According to Isa, the move to banish the herdsmen in the FCT cannot be archived, this is because these people do not find themselves as visitors in the FCT in the first instance. He stated that most of the people rearing cattle in the FCT are indigenes of the Federal Capital territory as such should enjoy this status of citizenship like every other Nigerian.
