The Federal Government has recovered a total of N288.6 billion looted funds from the past administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan so far. This was revealed by the Director-General of Budget Office, Ben Akabueze at Abuja. This was even as Udo Udoma, the Minister of Budget and National Planning allayed fears over the dismissal of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) by the National Assembly before the proposed 2017 budget was presented. Also, Zainab Ahmed, the state’s Minister of Budget and National Planning admitted that the N-Power scheme initiated by the federal government has not performed fairly well.Udoma pointed out that the National Assembly having both the MTEF and budget would work on them at their own pace.He also said the government was determined to pull the country out of the current recession and to do that, resources must be spent on infrastructure in order to reflate the economy. On the other hand, Ahmed said that the social intervention programmes encountered start-up problems and issues would be completely solved in the 2017 budget to meet the objectives of the scheme.
