NewsBreakers Managing Editor Wins Outstanding Essay Award

Managing Editor of NewsBreakers, Olalekan Adigun, on Thursday emerged winner of the Outstanding Essay award at the 9th Ships & Ports Annual National Essay Competition. The Overall Best Essay award went to Uzoigwe Chimezie Daniel, a PhD scholar at University of Benin, who received the grand prize of N300,000. Addressing participants at the well-attended occasion, CEO of Ships & Ports Communications Company, Bolaji Akinola, noted that this year’s edition saw submissions from five of the Nigeria’s six geo-political zones with only the Northeastern part of the country having no entry. Akinola added that the title of the competition, How to Boost Indigenous Participation in the Shipping Industry, was carefully selected to enable young Nigerians have more interest in the maritime sector with the view to boosting job creation and making the maritime sector one of the most viable sectors of the Nigerian economy. The event recognised eight winners, each of whom went home with award certificates and prizes for the respective categories.
