Nextzon Business Services Limited Dragged to Court over Unpaid Entitlements

A former employee of Nextzon Business Services Limited, Mr Sofolahan Olufeyisola Soewu has dragged his former employer to court over unpaid entitlements. In a suit filed by counsel to Sofolahan before the National Industrial Court of Nigeria sitting in, Ikoyi Lagos, he claimed that he left the employ of the company and requested that his exit benefits be calculated and paid to him but since July 23, 2010, when he resigned, the company has refused to make full payment. Sofolahan revealed that in his letter of resignation, he had specifically requested that the details of his pension and all outstanding benefits owed him by the defendants be communicated to him and that a date when all will be paid should be indicated. He averred that Nextzon Business Services afterwards became evasive of making any commitment towards paying him his exit benefits and up till now blatantly refuse their indebtedness to him despite the company’s success which has reflected changed location to a more suitable and exclusive office space at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. He is therefore requesting the payment of N407,901.34 (four hundred and seven thousand, nine hundred and one naira and thirty-four kobo) and an accrued interest of N 428, 296.41 (four hundred and twenty-eight thousand naira, two hundred and ninety-six and forty-one kobo at the current bank lending rate of 21% over the last five years. Sofolahan is also requesting a 3% interest charged monthly from the commencement of this suit till full payment is made and the sum of N 285,555.00 (two hundred and eighty-five thousand, five hundred and fifty-five naira) being the cost of instituting this action.
