Nigeria’s Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo condemns UK bombing

Acting President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo condemned in strong terms the terror attack in Manchester, United Kingdom on Monday.Osinbajo’s statement was contained in a news release issued by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant the President (Media and Publicity), Office of the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande.The release read: “On behalf of the people and Government of Nigeria, Prof Osinbajo expresses heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the government and people of the United Kingdom in this period of grief.”Osinbajo described the act as “A dastardly act and heinous crime”Â while he also assured Prime Minister Theresa May “that the prayers and thoughts of Nigerians are with the British people as they mourn the victims, many of them being young people.”“Acting President Osinbajo is confident that light of the civilised world will always prevail against the darkness of depravity, and he trusts that Britons and citizens of other nations across the world will continue to show resilience and courage in the wake of such terrorist crimes.“He prays that God Almighty will comfort the bereaved families and also wishes a speedy recovery for the injured.”Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, also commiserated with the family of late Chukwuma Onuekwusi and the Channels TV family. Chukwuma Onuekwusi was Channels TV State House Correspondent.He desribed the deceased as one “who combined high professionalism, wit, dedication and patriotism in his diligent reportage of activities in the Presidential Villa.”Osinbajo also prayed for comfort for all those who mourn the deceased, especially his immediate family.
