President unhappy with the high rate of illegal migration from Nigeria to Europe

President Buhari is displeased and unhappy with the increased rate of illegal migration of Nigerian youths to European countries through the Mediterranean Sea. This was made known at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Sahel and West Africa organized by the Food Crisis Protection Network in Abuja.

The president represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Audu Ogbeh called for an immediate stop to such an action, claiming it as unfair to the European countries.He further stated that the agricultural revitalization was a solution to the migration issue and also expressed his eagerness to aid farmers boost local production in the country.Data from the European Union show that an average of 83 Nigerians crossed illegally from Nigeria to Europe on a daily basis through the Mediterranean Sea in the first nine months of 2016.The president expressed hopes of revitalizing the agricultural sector in the country so as to secure youths with jobs than them being an embarrassment to other foreign countries.The president also appealed to the Sahel and West African agricultural stakeholders to devise ideas that would guarantee better management in cattle breeding via artificial insemination. Also, he stated that his administration would address issues of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North East.
