The National Homegrown School Feeding Scheme, one of the Social Investment Programmes of the Buhari’s regime has commenced its implentation stage with the feeding of primary school pupils in Anambra.

In November, the N-Power scheme began with the selection of the first batch of 200,000 unemployed graduates, many of whom were deployed across the country to engage in the N-Power Volunteer Corps (NPVC).The government has announced that no fee is to be paid to benefit from the N-Power or school feeding programmes as reports of such has reached the government who has issued firm instructions for such acts to cease.The Special Assistant on the feeding programme, Mr. Dotun Adebayo spoke in Awka that the pupils were overjoyed as the feeding started in their schools.All together in the state, an estimated 76, 690 pupils in 1,050 schools from primary 1 to 3 would be fed daily at school.All the cooks were recruited from communities around the primary schools for the programme, verified and trained to provide the catering service in the 21 Local Government Areas in the state.With the 2016 Budget of Change, a total of 17 states have concluded the designing of the school feeding models through state level multisectional capacity building workshops.
