I remain Delta APC chairman – Erue insists

The embattled chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Jones Erue, on Friday, insisted that he is still the chairman of the party.APCHe affirmed that setting up of a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party in the state was illegal. Some state APC elders and leaders led by Senator Spanner Okpozo had in a meeting on Tuesday in Ozoro, Isoko North Council area of the state, dissolved the party’s working committee and constituted a caretaker committee led by Nathaniel Omo-Onyeke to run the affairs of the party
Speaking with newsmen on Friday, Erue said the Senator Okpozo’s led faction had no legal ground to dissolve a committee that was elected by delegates at a congress held in Asaba, the state capital.Erue alleged that those who attended the purported meeting were being sponsored by external forces to cause confusion in the APC ahead of the 2019 governorship election.Meanwhile, Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Monday Igbuya (Sapele constituency) has blamed the APC for the country’s economic problems.Accusing the party of mismanaging the Nigeria’s economy, Igbuya said: “The APC has not fulfilled its promises. It has not solved the social problems, neither has it solved the economic problems. It has destroyed the economy, particularly the nation’s currency.”
