Senate approves fifteen INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners

Fifteen INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners have been appointed by the Nigerian Senate.The confirmation of appointment of the commissioners was in response to report of the Senate committee on the INEC, which certified them fit for confirmation.Twelve of the 15 commissioners are new appointees while the three others are reappointed. The reappointed commissioners are: Hussaini Halilu Pai, representing the Federal Capital Territory, Ahmed Makama for Bauch State, and Sadiq Musa, for Kaduna State.Those on new appointment are: Umar Ibrahim (Taraba state), Emeka Ononamadu Joseph (Imo state), Obo Effanga (Cross River State), James Apam, (Benue state), Professor Godswill Obioma, (Abia) and Professor Francis Ezeonu (Anambra State).Others are Dr. Briyai Frankland (Bayelsa State), Ibrahim Abdullahi, mni (Adamawa state), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Plateau State), Dr. Iloh Chuks, (Enugu State), Dr. Nwachukwu Orji (Ebonyi state), and Agboke Olaleke, (Ogun State).Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki said the appointees should justify their appointment through demonstration of commitment aimed at improving Nigeria’s electoral process.
