SENATE REJECTS THE CONFIRMATION OF ACTING EFCC CHAIRMAN, IBRAHIM MAGU

Image result for IBRAHIM MAGUSenate on Thursday rejected the nomination of President Muhammadu Buhari’s candidate for EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.A letter signed by Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo on behalf of the President in July requested the Former Assistant Commissioner of Police be screened and confirmed by the Senate for the position; which was delayed for months.Disagreements in the screening process on Thursday, delayed the screening which later ended in a rejection of Magu’s candidacy.Mr Aliyu Abdullahi, Chairman of Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, speaking to journalists cited the cause for rejection which was based on a “security report,” adding that the President would be briefed later to take further action.Mr Ibrahim and other officials of the agency left the building dejected.
