The Federal Government has pledged to assist the Government of Sierra Leone in the review and smooth implementation of its National Youth Service (NYS).Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Sule Kazaure, disclosed this when the presidential adviser on youth, Dr. Sheikhu Kamara and board chairman of Sierra Leone NYS, Prof. David Komora led a seven-man delegation to his office. He added that the scheme had so become a symbol of national unity and solidarity that many African leaders are working on establishing same in their countries.Kazaure said the NYSC had introduced and initiated programmes over the years, which had seen to the growth and sustenance of the scheme.The scheme’s Director went ahead to explain that the scheme presently mobilizes over 300,000 every year, with government’s support.Earlier in his address, Dr Kamara said the delegation was in Nigeria to learn from the experience of the NYSC.“Nigeria is not only leading us as a nation in West Africa, we are very proud to look up to it as the big brother we have in Africa, followed by South Africa,” Kamara said.
