An activist, Nelson Ekujumi, has declared that the tenure of Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh has brought more heartache than joy to Nigerians. In a statement circulated to newsmen on Sunday, Ekujumi declared that Oliseh’s team has posted unimpressive performance in recent matches. The statement reads: “Just yesterday, one watched the Super Eagles play Swaziland in a world Cup qualifier in far away Swaziland and one must confess that the performance of the team was far from inspiring. Infact, One felt disappointed seeing a football minnow team like Swaziland running rings round a flat footed, bereaved of technical input, giant of Africa, Nigeria’s Senior National team.”“I refuse to acknowledge the usual excuse that may be tendered by the National team gaffer or his players as being responsible for their shoddy and disappointing display. The performance of the team yesterday was a big let down of our image as a three times African champion and a regular representative of Africa at the world Cup on over four occasions now.”“Yesterday, the Eagles played without idea and to make matters worse, they continued to play long balls into the opponents box which was effectively neutralized by the Swaziland defence. With the way the super Eagles attackers were left in no man’s land in the eighteen yard box of the opponent because of the synergy between Swaziland defence and midfield, one expected the super Eagles to change tactics, by resorting to wing play, but they didn’t throughout the 90+ minutes of the match which is a sad reflection of the technical deficiency of the team handlers.”He continued: “One had his heart in his mouth throughout the match as I kept praying to God not to allow the swift, fast paced, confident but inexperienced Swazis to defeat the super Eagles, a team far above it in all ramifications.”“No matter what anybody says, am afraid that, with the uninspiring way we played yesterday, which has become a regular pattern of the senior national team , the future is not looking rosy for the super Eagles to make us proud again as before.”“So far, the performance of Sunday Oliseh and his team of fading stars has to me, become a source of concern and I think he seriously needs help in managing the Super Eagles to glory. The Super Eagles needs a foreign technical adviser now.”
