Meditation:
Today’s Text: Luke 5:1-9“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” Luke 5:5 (KJV)
“Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net” was Peter’s statement of faith which triggered off the miracle of the great catch (Luke 5:4-9).
If your faith can arise to believe the Lord, all things shall be possible unto you. Peter simply surrendered what He had to the word of God. God is calling us to partner with Him. He does not exploit anyone but looks for an opportunity to bless.
If He needs meat, He does not need to tell man. Peter obeyed a simple instruction when Jesus asked him to lunch out into the deep and caught more fishes than he ever saw.
Most people prefer to be in shallow water where only small fishes are available. The principle of giving and receiving is a divine law. God will provide a vision and that vision becomes a platform for kingdom visitors to thrive and prosper.
Peter launched out into the deep in obedience and received much more than he bargained for. This is how we receive provisions far above our expectations.
God bestows grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. If He did not withhold His Son from dying on the cross simply to redeem humanity, what will He withhold from as many as trust Him with a perfect heart?
The psalmist in Psalms 23:1-4, came to this realization and said,
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Have you come to a point in you Christian walk where circumstances and overwhelming uncertainties abound and you have taken nothing like Peter? The Lord can cook food in heaven and deliver it on earth for His people, only launch out into the deep by faith. God can! Hallelujah.
Prayer:
1.Pray for the faith to hold God at His word. Believe the word totally at all times.
Confession:
Father, it is comforting to know that rest from every struggle comes when I obey your word despite all odds. I depend on your word completely for my miracles in Jesus’ name, amen.
