(Breaking): Appeal Court Removes Wike as Governor

The Court of Appeal, Abuja division on Wednesday ordered the removal of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, when it struck out his appeal praying for the dismissal of the judgment of the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal which had earlier removed him as the state’s governor. The Appellate Court in its ruling delivered by Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem, held that Wike’s election did not conform with the Electoral Act. The Appeal Court therefore ordered a re-run election within 90 days. The Appellate Court also resolved all the seven issues raised by Wike against Dakuku Peterside and the All Progressives Congress party (APC). It would be recalled that the Tribunal had on October 24, 2015 declared that Wike was not duly elected governor of Rivers”Ž state.
