Police Should Liberate Territories in the Northeast Zones – Lai-Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed has urged the Nigerian Police to protect and occupy territories liberated by the Nigerian troops in the northeast. The Minister said this on Tuesday when he visited the Police Headquarters in Abuja, the oil-rich nation’s capital. He then called on the Police High Command to use its investigative capacity and large network to protect areas vulnerable to Boko Haram terrorists attacks. Mr Lai Mohammed stressed that it is important for Nigerians to support the war against terrorism and should not leave it to security agencies alone. He stressed that there is a need for effective collaboration between the Police and the people before the country can wipe out the decimated Boko Haram militants. The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, while responding to the Minister’s call, assured the Minister that the Police would cooperate with the Ministry of Information and Culture. Mr Arase further pledged to make use of technology and intelligence-led policing to restore peace and contain the insurgency in the Northeast, so that residents in those areas can sleep with their two eyes closed.
