A group of concerned indigenes have embarked on a legal war, by approaching the ECOWAS Court of Justice, with a prayer to nullify the election of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as governor of Kogi State. The plaintiffs; Sule Audu, Ikeleji Agada, Labaran Ismail Dadido, Isaka Isa, Abdul Audu, Ademu Abdullahi and Sulaiman Abdul, claim that Bello’s election was not in conformity nor consistent with Nigeria’s international obligations. Consequently, they sought an order of the court mandating the Federal Republic of Nigeria, their agents, servants and privies, to entrench universal values and principles of democracy.
