Bob Menendez to Resign from Senate After Corruption Conviction

Korede TeribaSenator Bob Menendez of New Jersey is set to resign from the Senate on August 20 after his corruption conviction according to anonymous sources.The lawmaker’s crimes included; bribery, obstruction of justice, fraud and acting as foreign agent. New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy is expected to find a replacement for the lawmaker whose tenure ends January 3, 2025. The Governor said he would appoint a caretaker in his place. Possible candidates are; Tammy Murphy, Tahesha Way, Mitchell Wells and Esther Salas.Rep. Andy Kim has said he would accept the position if offered. Menenedez has refused calls over his resignation from the U.S legislative house.
