Shettima Bukar-Abba has been appointed acting chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) after his nomination was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. The Deputy Director Of Planning And Strategy of the FCC, Chucks Okoli made this known to the press in Abuja on January 13, Wednesday. Bukar-Abba’s nomination came after the death of Alhaji Muhammad Bello Alkali, the former head of the agency. According to Okoli, until his nomination Bukar-Abba, a seasoned civil servant, served as the federal commissioner representing Borno state in the Commission. He stated that the acting Executive Chairman, who was also a two-time secretary to the Borno state government, had assumed duty. Dr. Shettima Abba hails from Bama. He attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in geography, a Master’s Degree in geography in 1985 and a PhD in geography in 1988.
