Earthquake Hits Southern Carlifornia, Epicenter Near Barstow

A powerful earthquake rocked Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California on Monday afternoon.

The 4.9-magnitude quake hit the Golden State around 1 p.m. with the epicenter about 13 miles northeast of Barstow in San Bernardino County, according to the US Geological Survey, reports the New York Times.Following the initial rumble, major aftershocks were also felt that measured at 3.5 and 2.7.

At the Warner Bros. Discovery – CNN’s parent company – offices in Burbank, about 115 miles southwest of the epicenter, the quake began as a slow roll and gained in intensity, lasting about 20 seconds, CNN also reports.
