The Federal Government of Nigeria will from next year commence the transportation of petroleum products by rail to their various destinations effective next year.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who made this known, argued that the move is to ensure the reduction of the risks linked with the tracking of petroleum products by road.
Amaechi further stated that, the move will also put an end to the damage done to roads by heavy duty trucks carrying petroleum products.
He expressed confidence that come 2016, trucking of petroleum products by road would have become a rare occurrence.
