Minister of Environment set to be UN Deputy Secretary General

Amina Mohammed, Nigeria’s Minister of Environment is set to be appointed as the UN’s Deputy Secretary General. She resumed ministerial duty in November last year after being appointed by President Buhari.

She is expected to be the deputy to Antonio Gutterres, who will assume office as secretary general of the UN on January 1st, 2017.Ms. Mohammed previously served as an adviser to the outgoing UN secretary general, Ban Ki-Mun.Details are expected to be revealed later.
